Invisalign Clear Braces

The most attractive smiles have straight teeth, but adults often shy away from orthodontics. Traditionally, orthodontic braces require treatment that involves wearing permanently secured metal wires and brackets for two years. Visions of middle school children with bulky headgear come to mind and strike fear in image-conscious adults.

Here’s some news that Dr. Russel Jensen knows you’ll appreciate: Invisalign orthodontics can straighten teeth without metal, in 12 to 18 months. Not only that, but Invisalign does not require anchoring to teeth. Instead, this innovative treatment features clear, removable aligners that a patient can easily remove.

For Teens And Adults

Adults who need cosmetic orthodontics and some cases of malocclusion can be treated with Invisalign. The most common candidate wore braces as a child or teen, but did not keep up with retainer use. Results of the initial orthodontic treatment changed, and the patient needs braces again. For this situation, Invisalign is usually a perfect solution.

We also offer Invisalign Teen. The difference is, Invisalign Teen takes into consideration many of the problems teens experience with orthodontia. For instance, if an Invisalign aligner can be removed from the mouth, will your teen comply with wearing it as directed? Not wearing the aligner will make treatment ineffective. Invisalign Teen aligners have a blue dot that fades with use. So, parents can simply check to see whether the dot is fading. If not, the patient is not wearing the aligner as he should. If you do see fading, then your teen is doing his part to ensure optimal results.

Teens also tend to lose things. We all knew the kid in school who threw away his retainer, right? Invisalign Teen comes with up to six replacement aligners, free. When your child accidentally loses or damages an aligner, just call us to order a replacement. Furthermore, the ability to remove Invisalign will allow your teen greater comfort if he plays an instrument. He’ll also be able to eat what he likes, and brushing and flossing will be easy, as well.

How Invisalign Works

To start treatment, Dr. Jensen will take images of your mouth. Using the patented Invisalign software and your digital images, the doctor will design a treatment plan. Then, an Invisalign lab will fabricate a series of aligners to shift teeth gradually into the ideal position. Each set of aligners uses gentle, constant forces to reposition teeth. You will need to wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day to stay on target with the estimated treatment completion date. Every two weeks, you’ll throw away your old aligners and begin wearing the next in your series.

Plan to attend checkup appointments at six week intervals, so Dr. Jensen can evaluate your progress. If you do not wear your aligners as often as directed, your teeth could relapse – move out of their new position. However, since Invisalign aligners are comfortable and inconspicuous, compliance is not normally an issue.

What To Expect

Your treatment should last 12 to 18 months, depending upon how many and which teeth are being moved, and how far they must move. After competing treatment, you’ll wear a clear retainer that we provide. Dr. Jensen will inform you how long you must wear your retainer during the day. You’ll always need to wear it while you sleep, to maintain treatment results.
